The following is a menu of special features you can have on your website. It is not all inclusive, as the industry is moving at light speed. However, it will give you some ideas as you begin to think about your specialized design.
The best way to start your ‘dreaming’ process is to surf the web for other sites in your business arena. You’re certain to find visual and audio features that you may never have otherwise considered. Be sure to look at layout, colors, and navigation as well. Like the earlier analogy of building a house, think of this step like going out to look at model homes in order to get your own design ideas!
Here’s the list to get started:
- Flash animation (avoid distracting amounts or overly-cute)
- Streaming video or audio (it’s a bandwidth hog, so be careful)

- Podcasts
- E-commerce (e.g., Pay Pal)
- Advertising
- Web traffic tracking
- Pop-up previews of links or other web pages
